THURSDAY EVENING is our Charity Night and an opportunity for each of us to give back to the community. We'll be collecting knitted items for "Caring for Kids" in Tacoma. There is still time to knit a hat this weekend! We are featuring presentations by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee and Ruth Sorsensen. All of you who have knitted Ruth's Kauni Cardigan Sweater will want to wear it this evening! The focus for the evening is Global Connections and the internet – making a difference throughout the world for others and the impact on our lives personally. Naomi Bang will facilitate the discussion to include you in the audience and our other panel members who are Anne Landre from the Mother's Day Project, and Melinda Mullins, Mary Adams and Joyce James speaking on behalf of the Shetland Textile Working Museum in the Shetland Islands. This Valentines Day evening we are asking you to come prepared to "Give from your Heart" for these very special projects:

Caring for Kids: Diane Formoso started this local group more than 15 years ago when, as a school bus driver, she saw so many children in need. It has blossomed to provide clothing and many essentials to young children in need.

Doctors without Borders: Stephanie Pearl-McPhee and her Knitters without Borders who follow her Yarn Harlot blog have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for this organization which takes medical care to the most needy throughout the world where no one else will risk going.

The Mothers Day Project: Anne Landre started this project after being inspired by taking Anita Luvera Mayer's class at last year's Madrona Retreat. The project honors women involved in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflict and now involves fiber art work by more than 160 volunteers on 3 continents.

The Shetland Textile Working Museum in the Shetland Islands: Melinda Mullins, Mary Adams and Joyce James, after visiting the Shetland Islands, have taken up the cause of the Museum to preserve the origins, history and traditions of Fair Isle Knitting for future generations.

Come join us for an interesting discussion, special door prizes for those in attendance and this opportunity to give back to the greater community. Thursday evening at 7:30 pm in the Venice Ballroom.

FRIDAY EVENING is our Teacher's Gallery and presentation by Lucy Neatby, known for her innovative techniques and colorful designs. Lucy will talk with us about her designs, their inspiration and her own voyage of discovery in knitting. This is a favorite evening of ours because everyone gets a chance to meet our teachers informally and see their incredible work in the gallery. It's an evening of informal discussion, sharing and inspiration. Friday evening at 7:30 pm in the Venice Ballroom.
